Review of Daban MG Hi Nu Fighter

Presenting a long over due review of the Daban MG Hi Nu Fighter. Earlier I had done a review of Nu Fighter, so now its time to go Hi hehe. Yeah yeah, its lame. I know.

The box art is pretty standard as expected from Daban. The box is on the larger side compared to other MG kits but this kit is a bigger one as well so that does make sense.

The chest piece is a nice nifty piece of work. Very nicely done except that the LED was missing in the kit which generally Daban includes. So maybe a packer forgot?

The head clipped on as well.

The arms with nice detailing on them so I am looking forward to having all these little pieces working out like an Iron man suit.

The arms and shoulder fixed. Again, the plastic is good quality and everything snaps in together.

The legs are very nicely done. Lots of detailing to see and work through. I am more impressed with the legs compared to the arms.

The waist portion and the legs snapped on. Looking impressive so far.

Everything coming together. Now I am even more impressed. 

The backpack and the fuel tanks snapped on. Very detailed and nicely done together.

With that, that is the review of the kit. The snap fit is very good mostly but a major problem was fitting the chest piece with the backpack. Once the kit fixes on the stand, the parts just separate and fall away. Not sure what I am doing wrong. But thats a big downer for a kit.

But standing free just like that, it looks very impressive.

Review of the SuperNova MG Sandrock Custom

Starting on the next kit from the SuperNova series..the Sandrock Custom. This one looks inspired from the Gundam Wing series kit, Sandrock. So without further ado, we start off.

The chest piece has no issues. The plastic is good. and no fitting issues either.

The head is pretty decent and very tight fit so no loose pieces falling off..yet

Chest and head piece combined. Looks good so far.

Arms and shoulders. The snap fit is good, the plastic is fair quality. The runners are undergated mostly but sometimes that can be a problem because of the nooks and crannies that the runners have to be cut to get the piece out.

Legs and waist piece. Great look and excellent snap fit.

Now is the tough part, getting the top and bottom portions snapped in together is tough and takes a toll on the fingers to push it in all. On the reverse side, the connection is very firm and will hold.

The blades and the shields. Point to note, those pointy things are really pointy so be careful with them. Had one of them prick me and draw blood. You have been warned.

The completed kit. Even with all odds and ends fixed on, the kit can stand on its own. It looks very impressive. But that's not all. The creme de la creme is coming up.

The impressive bit is the cloth that came with the the kit, which is supposed to replicate a cloak for the kit. The good thing is that the cloth does not feel cheap or easy to rip. A very pleasant surprise for me really.

I would definitely recommend this kit because of its quality and design.

Review of Daban MG Crossbone Fighter

Hi everyone. I have been very busy with life and studies. I needed to blow some steam so here I am again, bringing you the Daban MG Crossbone. It comes from the mecha series, Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam.

The packing as expected is standard from Daban. Nice box art all around as well.

The chest piece comes with the expected crossbones and the skull on it. I must tell you, having a skull on the mecha is not really standard for the design.

The head piece also has the skull theme...looks halloween-ish haha. All good so far, except that there is a loose piece of what is an antenna on the head piece which looks like what the lead robot had in the movie, Chappie. That tends to fall off very easily.

The arms are pretty standard though the thumbs can fall off under the slightest pressure.

Pretty dainty feet. But look sturdy enough.

The legs are fine..though one piece snapped off under pressure. Though to be fair, I think it was my more my fault that the piece itself. Anyway, its always better to be cautious.

Yep, passes the first test: Stand on its own. (I have had bad experience with the Dragon Momoko Tallgeese II so you'll have to forgive my insistence on standing free)

The "cloth", though I am not sure why it is called cloth.

Cloth slotted on, which basically covers the shoulders like skeletor's cape. (Young uns, please google him).

That brings us to the end. The completed kit looks good though I was expecting a bit more "presence" from it. The "Halloween" theme is interesting and different. Some parts are a little loose, but it could be my own mistake with fixing them as well. The plastic is expected Daban quality.

Review of Dragon Momoko ZGMF-X12A MG Testament

I have very fond memories of Dragon Momoko as it was the first kit I picked up that started my journey down the hobby route. So presenting the Dragon Momoko ZGMF-X12A MG Testament. The Testament features in the popular series, Gundam SEED and continues Dragon Momoko's obsession with the suits from the SEED series. So far, I have avoided making the other kits from the series with the exception of the sword and launcher variant of the Strike but this suit stands out because of its unique coloring and design.

The box as usual is very simple with a nice view of the Testament on top.

The manual as usual from Dragon Momoko is very colourful and is printed on good quality paper. Daban trumps Dragon Momoko in one aspect though: before building any piece, Daban will list down all the runners that are needed for that piece so its easier to keep them handy before building rather than look around for the runners halfway through the build.

The chest piece snap fit is excellent. The detailing as expected is very good. The colours are particularly eye catching. (Sorry, I have had enough of white and blue colours in these kits, haha)

The head is interesting..the antenna point forward like an insect's.

The hands are typical Dragon Momoko hands with PG quality.

The waist unit. So far, the kit is great. The detailing as always has been excellent and the snap fit is very firm, except for the head piece but that can be a little difficult sometimes to get right anyway.

The wings open in all their glory along with the extra guns. The pokemon cards around the kit were my son's idea of showing off improving the kit. Hmm..wonder what that implies about the kit. haha

Dragon Momoko has delivered and this kit is great. A great addition to any collection. Ticks all the boxes in my list for plastic kits.
