Review of Daban MG Hi Nu Fighter

Presenting a long over due review of the Daban MG Hi Nu Fighter. Earlier I had done a review of Nu Fighter, so now its time to go Hi hehe. Yeah yeah, its lame. I know.

The box art is pretty standard as expected from Daban. The box is on the larger side compared to other MG kits but this kit is a bigger one as well so that does make sense.

The chest piece is a nice nifty piece of work. Very nicely done except that the LED was missing in the kit which generally Daban includes. So maybe a packer forgot?

The head clipped on as well.

The arms with nice detailing on them so I am looking forward to having all these little pieces working out like an Iron man suit.

The arms and shoulder fixed. Again, the plastic is good quality and everything snaps in together.

The legs are very nicely done. Lots of detailing to see and work through. I am more impressed with the legs compared to the arms.

The waist portion and the legs snapped on. Looking impressive so far.

Everything coming together. Now I am even more impressed. 

The backpack and the fuel tanks snapped on. Very detailed and nicely done together.

With that, that is the review of the kit. The snap fit is very good mostly but a major problem was fitting the chest piece with the backpack. Once the kit fixes on the stand, the parts just separate and fall away. Not sure what I am doing wrong. But thats a big downer for a kit.

But standing free just like that, it looks very impressive.

Review of Daban MG Crossbone Fighter

Hi everyone. I have been very busy with life and studies. I needed to blow some steam so here I am again, bringing you the Daban MG Crossbone. It comes from the mecha series, Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam.

The packing as expected is standard from Daban. Nice box art all around as well.

The chest piece comes with the expected crossbones and the skull on it. I must tell you, having a skull on the mecha is not really standard for the design.

The head piece also has the skull theme...looks halloween-ish haha. All good so far, except that there is a loose piece of what is an antenna on the head piece which looks like what the lead robot had in the movie, Chappie. That tends to fall off very easily.

The arms are pretty standard though the thumbs can fall off under the slightest pressure.

Pretty dainty feet. But look sturdy enough.

The legs are fine..though one piece snapped off under pressure. Though to be fair, I think it was my more my fault that the piece itself. Anyway, its always better to be cautious.

Yep, passes the first test: Stand on its own. (I have had bad experience with the Dragon Momoko Tallgeese II so you'll have to forgive my insistence on standing free)

The "cloth", though I am not sure why it is called cloth.

Cloth slotted on, which basically covers the shoulders like skeletor's cape. (Young uns, please google him).

That brings us to the end. The completed kit looks good though I was expecting a bit more "presence" from it. The "Halloween" theme is interesting and different. Some parts are a little loose, but it could be my own mistake with fixing them as well. The plastic is expected Daban quality.

Review of Daban MG Zeta Fighter

Presenting one of my favourite kits ever which I have been hoping to build for a long while. The Daban MG Zeta Fighter.

The box is impressive.

The plastic is as expected from Daban. A little on the softer side. Its just that DevilArts has spoiled me now lol.

The Daban MG Zeta Fighter converts into a jet so the construction is a little different for it with lots of hinges and sliding parts. That again is also a weakness because the kit will not be as strong as a usual kit. But so far so good.

The arms are up and running. Now working on the waist piece and the legs.

Ok, looks decent doesnt it. But there are some problems already. The connections are decent but the ankle is quite problematic. I think it has to do with the conversion to the jet but the ankle more often than not does not get it right enough to make the Daban MG Zeta Fighter stand properly.

Attaching the top half with the bottom and immediately, I realise that the ball socket joint between the two parts is very bad. The clutch is not strong so when I tried to push down the ball into the socket, the parts just split open and to make it worse, the socket piece actually split apart under the pressure. Not a very good thing to happen. Quite a let down actually.

The problem seems worse with the jet pack on. The ankles are difficult to position and the waist also leans back because there is no firm connection with the legs. 

The beam rifle and the mega launcher with the shield. It also comes with a stand but I did not make that.

In the meantime, the Zeta unfortunately could not stand up to a philosophical conversation with my son so I came home to find the legs separated haha. I did not feel motivated enough to piece things together so I just gave up.

The Daban MG Zeta Fighter is a little disappointing but I think that has a lot to do with its feature of being able to transform into a jet. Was it for me? Nope, I dont think so.

Review of Daban PG 1/60 Red Frame Astray

Posting something that I have had a lot of fun putting together. One of my favorite plastic kits from my favorite anime series, Gundam SEED. The Red Frame Astray looks amazing in the series and putting it together was a lot of fun too. So without further ado, lets get into the review.

The box as expected is quite big but not as big as the newer PG kits like Unicorn or Banshee. The packing is not as sturdy as well but does a reasonable job of protecting the runners. 

Comes with the usual two booklets, one giving more details about the suit design and the other about the assembling. 

The Plastic is pretty standard Daban quality, nothing horrible and snaps fit together easily without any major issues. The plastic can get stressed while cutting off the runner so better to be careful about it. 

The finished legs with all the bells and whistles attached. Nice firm snap fit with no loose hanging pieces on it.

The finished waist attached to the legs. Pretty good snap fit and nice detailing on the legs. The articulation follows Bandai as much as I can tell.

The kit comes with an LED for the head which as expected will not last long with the LED on. I personally feel its too much of a hassle to change batteries when they run out but some may actually feel its worth the effort. You need to open the head carefully to pull out the LED and change battery. Not worth it, in my opinion.

Looks great so far, as always no loose pieces and snug snap fit.

Arms fixed and ready to snap on. I especially liked the articulation on the arms.

Since this isnt the kai version, it doesnt come with the second sword. So just one sword, beam rifle and shield. The sword looks very good though
