Review of LEPIN 20005 Mercedes-Benz Arocs 3245 Type A

Starting off with a review for LEPIN 20005 Mercedes-Benz Arocs 3245. This set comes with a total of 2793 pieces, pneumatic system for controlling the bucket system and also has the option of making 2 designs from the same kit. The issue is that you have to dismantle one to make the second design. Try to figure out if its worth the effort.

Anyway we are off now with the review. Firstly the box is quite big. Approx 12 x 58 x 48 cm. The box isnt of hard cardboard material so chances are that it may get crushed during shipping. When that happens, the packets insides may burst under the pressure. Some of the things to remember when ordering online.

Inside the main box, the packets are split into two more boxes. How do they decide what packets go where? I have no idea.

The instruction manual is heavy with decent print quality. But the manual doesn't contain instructions for making the 2nd design so you will have to use the Lego instructions for it. Secondly, it doesn't have instructions for using the pneumatic system as well so go back to Lego for it as well.

The snapfit is pretty good. Some parts can be a little loose but nothing horrible. The biggest headache is finding the right pieces since the packets are labelled. But that can be avoided if you separate the parts before starting off.

The chassis for the truck comes first with engine nicely placed. Again, the snap fit is as good as it can be.

The chassis with the extended supports fixed on as well. Nice mechanism to extend the supports out.

The rest of the chassis snapped on with pegs for all the wheels on.

This is where the quality creeps out a little. The tyres are not of that great quality and bulge out under the weight of the truck so far. Not horrible but still pretty odd to look at.

The first time I find a piece missing and its an important one though not something that you cant move on without. But it makes operating the crane, structurally unsound. That should give you a rough idea of where the missing piece is supposed to go. The pneumatic connections are a little difficult to follow and I had to move forward for a few pages to get a better idea of joining all the tubes.

The cab snapped on. Two more pieces missing here, or should I say exchanged with the wrong type of pieces. Again, the pieces are not crucial. As can be seen, you can still make the kit even without them.

The tipper snapped on. Firm construction and nicely done. After fitting it all in, I found that I did not have enough batteries to give it a try. Maybe later. But anyway, the kit has been great. Inspite of the missing pieces, you could still carry on with the construction and for anything missing, you could get them from bricklink.

Next step, dismantle it all and then make the second design from scratch.

  1. Nice review! Have you had the chance to test the pneumatics quality yet?

    1. Thanks, I did check it out but I think I made a mistake while hooking up the pipes because it did not move. It could also be possible that the pneumatic engine itself was not strong enough to pump air. Earlier versions of LEPIN seem to have that issue. I am not sure of the newer versions. Maybe you could let me know if you are aware of any. Thanks for visiting. Please drop by again.
